Day 1.    Budapest

Arrive to Budapest, transfer to the hotel, free time. Overnight in Budapest.

 

Day 2.   Budapest

Budapest city tour: Citadel, Buda castle district, Fisherman’s bastion, St.Stephen’s basilica, Heroes’ square, City Park with the Vajdahunyad castle, Andrássy street, Fashion street, Váci street – with the most outstanding historic monuments and sights, mentioning only the most popular places. Afternoon visit the fancy New York Cafe. In the evening suggested to see the beautiful lighted city! Overnight in Budapest.

 Optional evening program: 1 hour boat tour on the Danube –Budapest by night

 

Day 3.   Bend of the Danube trip 

Full day excursion to the most beautiful historic cities of the valley of Danube. The beautiful environment, the art and the culture of Szentendre enchants the visitors. Visegrád is one of the oldest city and one of the former royal court of Hungary. Because of the favorit geographical position here was built a fortification during the roman empire as well. The ruin of it, can be seen till today, comes from 1250’s. Driving further on the right bank of Danube we reach Esztergom, other beautiful city of Danube bend. The city had been populated in the pre-historical times, later became the Center of the Hungarian catholic church and a flowery mercantile city. Today is one of the most popular tourist destination of the country. The Basilica of Esztergom is one of the largest church of Europe. Arrival to Budapest at late afternoon. Overnight in Budapest.

 

Day 4.    Ljubljana – Bled

After an early breakfast we drive to the lovely Slovenia. Our first stop will be in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia. Lunch and a short walk in the downtown and then go further maybe to the most beautiful alpine holiday destination in the country, to Bled. Bled is known for the glacial Lake Bled, which makes it a major tourist attraction. A small island in the middle of the lake is home to Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church; visitors frequently ring its bell for good luck. Before the church was built, there was a temple consecrated to Živa, the Slavic goddess of love and fertility. One can get to the island on a traditional flat-bottomed wooden boat. The island on Lake Bled has 99 steps. A local tradition at weddings is for the husband to carry his new bride up these steps, during which the bride must remain silent. Overnight in Bled.

 

Day 5.    Bled – Vintgar gorge – Bohinj

Breakfast at the hotel and start an adventure to the Vintgar gorge. The Vintgar gorge is one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. Along the narrow passage, where the Radovna river thrashes loudly against its rocky confines, there are paths, galleries and bridges constructed in the rock. The trail runs through the 1600 m long gorge. The Vintgar gorge ends at the delightful Šum waterfall, the highest river fall in Slovenia. One can find its way back pass St. Catherine's church and take a scenic walk across the meadows which offer marveouls views on Mt.Triglav and the valley. After lunch we climb up to the Bled castle from where you can enjoy the finest view of the lake with its island. Afternoon drive to Bohinj, one of the most beautiful places in the heart of the Julian Alps and in Triglav National Park. Overnight in Bohinj.

Bohinj offer an ideal opportunities for rest and relaxation in all seasons. In winter the valley becomes a winter sports center, while during the summer the most beautiful pearl of the valley. The symbol of the city the lake Bohinj and the holy spirit church. The cable car ride is an excellent choice if you want to enjoy a breathtaking view from the Vogel. Overnight in Bohinj.

 

Day 6.    Bohinj – Postojna – Rovinj

After an early breakfast heading to south. 40 km from the Italian border located the 24,120 m long karst cave system near Postojna. The cave one of the most popular tourism site in Slovenia. Take the train through the underground world of the largest cave in the Classic Karst and the most visited tourist cave in Europe. Then visit the Predjama castle just 10 km from Postojna cave. This Renaissance fortress for more than 700 years it has perched proudly on its 123 m cliff: powerful, defiant and impregnable – the perfect hideout for the bold, headstrong and rebellious knight Erazem of Predjama, a “robber baron” who is the subject of a romantic legend. Predjama Castle is a fifth-storey building with 15 rooms. It has been rebuilt twice, after suffering considerable damage due to the war between Erazem and Emperor Frederik III and after it was destroyed by an

earthquake. The present castle was built in 1570 in the Renaissance style and it is considered a real masterpiece.

After a castle visit drive further to Croatia, one of the most beautiuful city of Istrian Peninsula, to Rovinj. After arrival free time. Optional program to see the picturesque harbor by night. Overnight in Rovinj.

 

Day 7.   Rovinj – Pula

Rovinj is one of the most beautiful town in Croatia and one of the most significant tourist destination. Narrow streets, mediterranean buildings, ancient atmosphere characterize the city. Walking tour in Rovinj. Afternoon drive further to the more than 3000 year-old Pula, the capital of Istria. The city is best known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings. The most famous of which is its 1st-century amphitheatre, which is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world. Sightseeing in Pula, free time or relax on the Verudela beach (depending on the weather condition). Overnight in Pula.

Day 8.   Pula – Opatija

Breakfast at the hotel and in the morning walking tour in Pula: Roman arena, Temple of Roma and Augustus, Arch of Sergil. Late afternoon drive to the most beautiful town of Gulf of Kvarner, to Opatija. Overnight in Opatija.

 

Day 9.   Opatija – Fiume (Rijeka)

Opatija is the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', or also known as the ’Old Dame’. Close your eyes and feel this rich cultural heritage, the aristocratic lifestyle. Walk along the 12 km long Lungamore seaside promenade and admire the elegant villas and beautiful hotels. Afternoon we visit Fiume, Croatia’s third largest city and it is the principal seaport of the country (the city is called Rijeka in Croatian). Fiume is a cosmopolitan city with a very turbulent history. Sightseeing in the downtown, visit the Trsat castle, evening free time. Overnight in Fiume.

 

Day 10.   Fiume (Rijeka) – Plitvice 

After an early breakfast drive along the gorgeous dalmatian coast. Arrival about noon at Plitvice National Park. Since 1979 the park is in UNESCO world heritage site. The rest of the day we spend a wonderful day at the park. Overnight in Plitvice.

 

Day 11.   Plitvice – Zagreb – Budapest

Breakfast at the hotel and drive toward to Hungary. On the way we stop in Zagreb for a lunch and a short walking tour. Arrival to Budapest in the afternoon. Overnight in Budapest.

 

Day 12.   Budapest – Gödöllő – Budapest

Today we visit the nearby Gödöllő, visiting the largest baroque palace of Hungary, the  Grassalkovich-palace. Queen Elisabeth and her husband Franz Joseph relaxed here very frequently in the spring and autumn seasons. Unfortunately the storms of history didn’t spare the palace. During the second world war it was demaged. After the war it was used as stall for animals and as a military quarter and store. The furnitures and instalationes of the palace were demaged or transported.  The reconstruction started after 1990 and it is lasting till today. Nowadays museum and banquet-and conference centre can be found in the palace.  Lunch in a traditional hungarian restaurant, after returning to Budapest. In the rest of the day relaxation in one of the largest and most elegant bath of Budapest, the Szechenyi spa. Overnight in Budapest.

 

Day 13.  Budapest

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport. Departure according to the schedule.
