 Bran (Dracula) castle 

 

Day 1.   Budapest

Arrive to Budapest, transfer to the hotel, relax. Overnight in Budapest.

 

Day 2.  Budapest

Budapest city tour: Citadel, Buda castle district, Fisherman’s bastion, St.Stephen’s basilica, Heroes’ square, City Park with the Vajdahunyad castle, Andrássy street, Fashion street, Váci street – with the most outstanding historic monuments and sights, mentioning only the most popular places. Afternoon visit the fancy New York Cafe. In the evening suggested to see the beautiful lighted city! Overnight in Budapest.

 

Optional evening program: 1 hour boat tour on the Danube – Budapest by night

 

Day 3.   Budapest – Debrecen – Cluj-Napoca

After breakfast we go to Romania. On the way we stop for a short visit in Debrecen. The city is the most important town in the Great Hungarian Plain. Intellectual, cultural, economic, tourism and transport center of the region. There will be held the Flower Carnival on August 20 of each year which attracts many visitors to the city. We leave Hungary and go to Romania. Our first stop will be at the elegant city, in Oradea, just 20 km from the Hungarian border. Take a short walk in the city then go further to Transylvania's historic center, to Cluj Napoca. Overnight in Cluj.

 

Day 4.    Cluj Napoca – Sovata / Bear lake

Cluj-Napoca is the largest city in Transylvania. There are two theaters, two opera, eleven higher education institutions and a number of secondary schools an important cultural center’s of the country. In the morning city tour and then go further to the one of the most popular city, Sovata. The town is famous its salt lakes and warm water and European fame bath city. There are five lakes in this region. The biggest lake is the Bear lake which is estimated at 66 000 tonnes amount of salt is dissolved, the surface temperature increases down by the heat down and concentrated salt causes the sun. In summer the temperature of the lake, fluctuates between 10-20 ° C at the surface, 30-40° C at 1 meter depth and 40-60 ° C at 1.5 meters depth. Around 18-19 m the lake temperature reached 71 ° C. This is unique in Europe. Its water being heliothermal and salty, with well-known therapeutic effects. Overnight in Sovata.

 

 

 Day 5.  Sovata – Prajd – Korond (Corund) – Baile Tusnad    

Breakfast at the hotel and then start to the center of salt region, to Praid. The salt mine is more than a mine. The micro-climate of the Praid saline creates favorable conditions for the salt therapy. You can find there a chapel, playground, medical center, winery and restaurant. Further along we stop in the famous pottery village, Corund where we admire the masterpieces of the potters. Corund is a real tourist attraction. The rest of the day we get to know about Baile Tusnad. Romania’s smallest town is a popular health resort starting from the 19th century. The village is almost entirely inhabited by Hungarians, the population is less than 10% of the Romanian population. Overnight in Baile Tusnad.

 

 

Day 6.   Baile Tusnad – Brasov – Bran – Curtea de Arges

After breakfast we start to Brasov, the second biggest city of the country. Brasov was the largest and most important city of the rich commercial town for centuries. With its central location, Brașov is a suitable location from which to explore Romania, and the distances to several tourist destinations (including the Black Sea resorts. The old city is very well preserved and is best seen by taking the cable-car to the top of Tâmpa Mountain. After the city tour we reach to the top of our tour. Visit the medieval fortress the Bran Castle, located near Bran, or as it commonly known “Dracula castle”. Dracula exists in the imagination but visitors to Bran Castle should make the distinction between the historic reality of Bran and the character of the Count Dracula. The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Overnight in one of the small town of Wallachia, in Curtea de Arges.

 

Day 7.   Curtea de Arges – Deva    

Today we will pass the most beautiful parts of the Fagaras Mountains. Breathtakingly wonderful mountains, streams and lovely valleys follow each other. We stop for a photo shoot where you can take lots of pictures about this majestic scenery. Arrive to Deva around noon. In the Mures river valley lying city's most famous attractions of the remaining old castle hill fort, the ruins of the castle of Deva. After arrival we will take a tour in the city. Overnight in Deva.

 

Day 8.   Deva – Arad

Breakfast at the hotel and then drive to Arad, one of the most important industrial center and transportation hub on the Mureș River. Arad is a city of impressive buildings and architecture, with many of the main sights located along the broad, tree-lined principal thoroughfare. After arrival take a walking tour in the historical downtown where churches and cathedrals span four centuries, several denominations, and architectural styles ranging from baroque to neoclassic. Overnight in Arad.

 

 

Day 9.   Arad – Szeged – Ópusztaszer Heritage Park  – Budapest

Today we leave Transylvania and go back to Budapest. Our first stop will be at Szeged, the third largest city of Hungary. Szeged is a cultural center in the southern plains and home of the famous Szeged paprika. Short walking tour in the city and then visit the open air museum at nearby Ópusztaszer. The park invites you to explore the history of Hungary as well as the culture and life-style of people living on the Southern Great Plain. Beautifully nestled in the Pusztaszer Protected Landscape, the Heritage Park marks one of the most sacred and important historical sites in Hungary, Ópusztaszer, where in the year 896 the modern nation of Hungary was born. After park visiting head back to Budapest. Overnight in Budapest.

 

 

Day 10.  Budapest

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time or transfer to the airport.
